Concert and event lighting, designed and run by people who tour with it.

Deep South Productions designs, supplies, programs and operates lighting for live events across the United States and Canada. Festival main stages, arena and casino shows, corporate general sessions, award dinners, brand activations, municipal celebrations and houses of worship. We own the fixtures, the control, the truss, the cable and the distribution, we move it on our own trucks, and the designer who drew the plot is usually standing at the console when doors open.

The problem

Lighting is the part of a show people feel before they can explain it.

Lighting is the part of a show people feel before they can explain it. It sets the pace of a concert, tells a room where to look during a keynote, and decides whether a gala photo looks expensive or looks like a hotel ballroom with the house lights up.

A rig is only as good as the person programming it and the crew hanging it at six in the morning.

Lighting design

Lighting design

We start with the room, the content and the schedule — not with a fixture count. You get a plot, a fixture schedule, a power and weight summary, and a rough focus plan before anything leaves the warehouse. For broadcast or heavy photo and video coverage, we design for the camera as well as the eye, and we coordinate with the video team so the LED wall and the stage wash aren't fighting each other. Moving fixtures

Moving fixtures

Spots, washes, beams and hybrids in the counts a modern concert rig needs, plus the profile fixtures corporate work runs on — gobos, framing shutters, clean white light for key and podium coverage.

Conventionals

Conventionals

Ellipsoidals, PARs, cyc and border lights, and the practical front-of-house wash that carries a speaker or an award presentation when nothing else should be moving.

LED wash and effects

LED wash and effects

LED wash bars, battens, strobes, blinders, pixel-mappable effects fixtures and battery-powered wireless uplights for spaces where cable runs are not an option — historic venues, tented dinners, ballrooms with immovable furniture.

Control and programming

Control and programming

Professional lighting consoles with pre-visualization and offline programming, so a corporate show can be built and approved before load-in and a touring look can be reproduced night after night. We provide programmers and board operators, not just the desk.

Followspot

Followspot

Truss spots and floor spots with trained, called operators — a detail that gets skipped constantly and is instantly obvious when it's missing from an award show or a headline set.

Architectural and venue uplighting

Architectural and venue uplighting

Facade, column, drape and perimeter uplighting in matched color, plus pin-spotting for centerpieces, custom gobo and monogram projection, and low-level wash that keeps a room dim without making it dark. For corporate and gala clients this is often the entire job, and we treat a two-hundred-guest dinner with the same process we bring to a festival.

Outdoor and festival rigs

Outdoor and festival rigs

Weather-rated and weather-protected fixture packages, wind and load planning for mobile stage roofs and ground-supported structures, sunset-to-set timing, and enough spare inventory on the truck that a failed fixture at 4pm is a swap rather than a problem. Festival Production →

Power and distribution

Power and distribution

Generators, distro, cable, dimming and data infrastructure sized and drawn as part of the lighting design, so nobody discovers the available power on show day.

Atmospherics

Atmospherics

Fog, haze and confetti, run to the venue's fire-code and detector requirements. Beams only exist if there's something in the air for them to cut through.

Truss and rigging support

Truss and rigging support

We own a substantial box truss inventory along with ground support, lifts and motors, and we coordinate the rigging that carries the rig. We self-perform limited, safe applications and bring in qualified rigging specialists for larger, structural and arena work — that's how it should be done, and it's how our insurance and your venue want it done. Crew

Crew

Lighting designers, programmers, board operators, spot ops, dimmer techs and loaders — our own staff, extended by a vetted freelance bench when a build needs volume.

Common questions

FAQ

How much does event lighting cost?

It's driven by fixture count, truss and rigging, crew size, how many days you need the room, and travel. A ballroom uplighting package and a festival main stage rig are different orders of magnitude. Send us the venue, date and headcount and we'll quote real numbers rather than a range that means nothing.

Do you provide a lighting designer, or just the equipment?

Both. Most clients take design, programming and operation with the package. Production companies and venues that already have a designer can take equipment-only. Equipment Rental →

Can you do uplighting for a wedding, gala or corporate dinner?

Yes. Uplighting, pin spots and custom monogram projection are routine work for us, including battery-powered wireless fixtures for venues where you can't run cable.

Do you handle rigging for lighting?

We coordinate the full rigging scope and own the truss, motors and ground support. We self-perform limited, safe applications and engage qualified rigging specialists for larger structural and arena work.

Can you match a touring artist's lighting rider?

Send it over. We'll mark it up honestly — what we cover from inventory, what we cross-rent, and what should be substituted rather than forced.

Can you use haze or fog in our venue?

Usually, yes. We provide fog, haze and confetti, coordinated in advance with the venue's fire marshal and detection system. Without something in the air, beam looks don't read.

How far in advance should we book lighting?

As early as you can, especially spring and fall festival season. That said, short-notice work is a real part of this business — call us anyway.

Tell us
what it needs to look like.

Send the date, the venue and what's happening on stage. A producer and a lighting designer will come back to you with a plan, not a price list.
